Getting old sucks

I have been on vacation all this week. Back to the grind on Monday. The days have gone by so fast. Much too fast! Tomorrow will be my birthday. I'll be *gulp* 49. The last of my 40's. That is really hard to believe. It seems like yesterday when I was a teenager. Seems like yesterday when my daughter was a baby. She will be 28 years old in February. Where did the time go?

We are having a family only celebration on Sunday for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. My daughter is coming too. She lives in another state so I don't get to see her very often. We talk on the phone all the time but it just isn't the same so I am happy that she is coming.

If the weather permits we will grill some burgers and polish sausages. I plan to make some lasagne too. My sister will make them a cake. Her cakes are awesome. She made my brother's wedding cake years ago and after that she has become a professional cake maker. Any kind of cake a person wants, she can make it.

Some 50th anniversary decorations I had ordered arrived in the mail today. I was worried I wouldn't get them until after Sunday. I've also gotten them a beautiful 50th anniversary picture frame, a 50th wedding bell, and a book about the year 1957. My siblings and I will also be giving them a money gift. Their anniversary announcement along with two pictures (wedding day and current picture) will appear in our local newspaper on Tuesday. I'm hoping they will receive a lot of cards from people. My aunt who lives in my mother's hometown in northwest Indiana is going to put an announcement in their local paper too.

I have so many things I need to be doing around my house. I am so bad about procrastinating. Putting things off until the last minute. People who are well organized get props from me. I wish I could be like that!

Well, I better get cracking! Since I gave my maid the week off, I will just have to do my housework myself. Yeah, right! I wish!
