Lordy, I have been a bad bad blogger. I just can't seem to collect my thoughts and organize them into a blog post lately. Nothing really worthy. I think my muse is on vacation.Part of the problem is I just haven't been feeling very good lately. I have been doing a lot of reading lately. I am just about finished with a book and have another one ready to begin.
Work has been so-so. On August 21st I had only been at work for an hour and had been feeling just fine when all of a sudden I started experiencing weird vision problems. My vision was blurry and it was very hard to concentrate and focus while sitting at my computer and trying to register a patient. Then my vision field had what looked like clear gel-like amoeba floating around and then a large zig-zagged line shaped like a question mark and it was flashing and moving. At that point another patient had just sat down at my desk and I knew there was no way I could function properly. I felt dizzy and my head was starting to hurt too. I told the patient I'd be right back but I went to my supervisor's office and asked another co-worker in there if she could please wait on my patient. I told my boss that I couldn't see right and wasn't feeling good and asked to be relieved so I could go to the e.r. She acted perturbed and when I started to speak again about my eyes she shoved a consent form at me (she was registering me for e.r.) and told me to basically shut up and just sign the paper. No, she didn't say shut up but the tone of her voice meant the same thing. Oh well, that is par for the course with her sometimes. I think she was just frustrated and worrying about who or how she would find someone else to cover my shift.
I put up that link above because the pictures on that site are a lot like how my vision was that day. Anyway, by the time I got to the e.r. my head was hurting more and my eyesight was worse. My blood pressure was high which didn't help. When the nurse told me to lay my head down, I felt a whoosh in my head and thought I was going to pass out for just a few seconds. It scared me. I closed my eyes and then only a few seconds later when I opened up my eyes, my vision was clear again! No more squiggly electric looking zig zag lines. The back of my head was throbbing though. The doctor told me he thought I was having a migraine. He gave me an injection and some pills and sent me home.
By the time I left the e.r. about two and half hours later, another co-worker was there taking my place and she and my other co-worker were so kind to me and expressed concern. I gave them both a hug and thanked the woman who came in to work. She works part-time and said she needed the extra hours anyway and wasn't doing anything at home so for that I was relieved.
The next day when I came in to work, "Lisa" the girl I wrote about in my last post came up to me as soon as I had sat down and was clocking in. She snotted off at me and told me she was mad at me for repeating some of the stuff she had said to me. Whatever. I had told a friend of mine who works in housekeeping about our conversation and she had repeated it to another who works in my dept. and word got around. I know I should have just kept it to myself but I didn't. I was mostly confused over why it would matter if I looked at my checkbook while at work! Of course the "young and pretty" comment was unwarranted along with all the other crap she said that day. She was just embarrassed that she had said it probably. She's very huffy with me now but I just ignore it.
My dog hasn't been feeling very good ever since last night. I don't know what is wrong. He was fine all day yesterday and then later in the evening he just started acting kind of skittish. Then he was keeping his tail down between his legs and wanting to lay down but he couldn't seem to get comfortable. When I picked him up at one point he let out a yelp.
I checked his legs to make sure he hadn't possibly jumped and hurt himself but his legs look okay. He injured his back leg last year after jumping off the couch and he limped on it for days. He hadn't broken a bone but pulled a muscle. He had eaten and drank a little today but he just wants to sleep all day on my bed. I can tell he just feels like shit. He is getting old like his Mommy.

Cindi, I'm worried about Dexter! If he's still yelping tomorrow, you should call the vet, it could be something. It's worrisome when they start acting like that without warning.
I've never heard of ocular migraines, I get the regular migraines once in a while and they are NOT fun.
Oh, do keep us updated on The Adventures of Lisa, I wanna know when she finally shoots herself in the foot. ;-)
I once ruptured a small blood vessel in the back of my eye and that caused a blind spot in the middle of my vision. Scary, scary stuff to have something go wrong with your eyesight! Hope all is well with you. AND hope the pup is fine, too.
I agree with Janet--Don't let him go too long, if he's ill take him to Vet... Hope he's o.k. Mine is at the Vet today, he's had a stint with Heartworms, so I'm hanging in there on that. (sigh)
I'm glad Mrs. Uglyboo heard about it all, she will learn about life soon enough. It's not all going to be peachy for her, and her looks will only carry her so far... Please do keep us posted. Guess we love to hear dirt!! :D
