Eight

Dazd has tagged me with a meme. I am putting on my thinking cap and will see what I come up with. So here goes.....

1. Post the rules for the meme at the beginning of your post.

2. This meme consists of the blogger listing eight random facts/habits about themselves.

3. People who are tagged in this post are to write their own post listing their own eight random items and list the rules.

4. At the end of the post/meme, list the folks you are tagging and leave them notice of such in their comments.

'myspace

1. I am an insomniac.

2. I am unable to watch surgical procedures performed (eye, heart, face-lifts, liposuction, nose jobs, etc.) on tv. I just can't handle it! Eeek! I have to close my eyes and peek when I think the gory parts are over.

3. I like to chew gum and always have some here at home. I am chewing some right now. I never chew gum at work though.

4. I like the smell of lighter fluid. (I don't like the smell of gasoline though.)
5. My favorite flower is the lilac.
6. I love to read lots of different kinds of books but my favorites are biographies and auto-biographies.
7. Lately I have been finding myself secretly annoyed when people cheerily ask me, "how are you today?" Do they really want to know
or do they just say that for introductory conversation filler? I usually answer with a smile, "oh.....okay." That happened the other night and the woman who had asked me replied with a laugh, "you don't sound too convincing!" I told her, "well...I'll spare you the details." We both laughed. (I don't think I am depressed....just going through a slump. A bad case of the doldrums. The blahs.)
8. I am a lot more open-minded than I was ten to twenty years ago. It is funny because I guess I thought that as I aged I would become more closed-minded or old fashioned. I am just the opposite.
Finally! That was really hard to do. I've done a meme like this before and I didn't want to repeat myself. I am going to "cheat" and not tag anyone but if anyone else does it, please let me know in the comments so I can check out your eight random facts/habits!
I wish I could figure out why I can't get my spacing right on these blog posts. In the composing window it looks the way I want it, but when I go to preview it, some of my paragraphs are too close to others. Oh well!

I love lilacs. Wish they lasted longer... I had a gorgeous bush at the old house and haven't had the time or energy to get some new ones planted at the new house. Now you have me inspired...

It's fun learning new things about people. I'd never have guessed you'd be a squeemish TV viewer...

oh, and occasionally I have the spacing issue. No clue why. Big help, huh? :)

I'm with you on the TV surgeries. I accidentally flipped to the sex change one and I about lost it.

I watch a few shows 'through my fingers,' so I know what you mean about being squeamish!

Ironically I can handle seeing bloody injuries at work for the MOST part! I just can't stand to watch those surgeries on tv...seeing a doctor peeling away a cornea, watching the doc using that long "power tool" to suck out the fat during liposuction, scalpels cutting into skin...omg...just can't handle watching it!!!

Regarding #7, sometimes I "nervously" feel I have to speak to people that I encounter in doorways, elevators, etc... Not that I feel overly sour (which I just usually feel somewhat reclusive and forced to be near these people). But I try to be as nice as I can, usually replied by their sour faces and silence. Rarely, I'll get someone who will say with a smile, "good and you?".

Not that it's a bad thing you don't like this, but I'm curious, would you like people to remain silent and not address you? Or just say something else entirely?
