Movie Madness *Update Answers*

Mrs. Who has tagged me with this movie meme.

"Pick out ten favorite movies, then look them up at IMDb. In the overview at the top of each movie’s page, there are “Plot Keywords,” usually five of them. (Plus more, if you click the link.) Take the first five, and post them. Then the rest of us get to play movie buff and see if we can guess them."

I had a hard time guessing which movies were Mrs. Who's favorites but it was interesting. So here are some of my favorite movies. Can you guess what they are by the plot keywords? Correctly guessed are in blue.

1) Based on play / Psycho thriller / Killer child / Handyman / Pendant hint: 1956 movie nominated for 4 Oscars. The main character was an evil little girl named "Rhoda". Answer: The Bad Seed (starring child actress Patty McCormack, Eileen Heckert, Henry Jones)

2) Teenage boy / Idaho / Nerd / Llama / Dance scene hint: Indie cult hit starring Jon Heder. It is one of those movies that people either think it is hilarious (me) or really stupid (my sister). Answer: Napoleon Dynamite

3) Falsely accused / Racism / Rabid dog / Trial / Recluse Answer: To Kill a Mockingbird

4) Wagon train / Mail order bride / Survival / Rocky Mountains / Native American attack hint: 1952 Western written by Frank Capra and starring Robert Taylor. Answer: Westward the Women

5) Blind / Mother daughter relationship / Interracial romance / Beads / Alcoholic Answer: A Patch of Blue (starring Sidney Poitier, Shelley Winters, Elizabeth Hartman)

6) African American / Abusive husband / Friendship / Incest / Letter Answer: The Color Purple

7) Allegory / Dog / Hot air balloon / Tornado / Good versus evil / Actor playing multiple roles Answer: The Wizard of Oz

8) Holocaust / Italy / Father son relationship / Tank / Charades Answer: Life is Beautiful

9) Extramarital affair / National Geographic Magazine / Diary / Life lesson / Iowa Answer: The Bridges of Madison County

10) Rags to riches / Country music / Child bride / Kentucky / Price of fame Answer: The Coal Miner's Daughter

cmk got #3 and #5 right with To Kill a Mockingbird and A Patch of Blue!

Sue got #6, 7, 9 & 10 with The Color Purple, The Wizard of Oz, The Bridges of Madison County and Coal Miner's Daughter.

Mrs. Who guessed correctly on #8 with Life is Beautiful and #2 with Napoleon Dynamite.

Some of these are pretty old movies and if anyone is able to guess numbers 4 and 5, I will be very surprised! I picked the plot keywords that would be the easiest to pinpoint the movies. Some of them are dead give-a-ways. I will give up the rest sometime this weekend.

I'm not going to tag anyone but if anyone wants to do it on their blog, let me know so I can try to guess your favorite movies! I will let you know later if your guesses on mine were right and what the answers are.

Since I'm first I reserve the right to not know all of them... in fact, I should know more of them but am brain dead this morning. I only got a few:
6. Color Purple
7. Wizard of Oz
9. Bridges of Madison Co.
10. Coal Miners Daughter

I know if I think harder I'd get more, but I'm tired and am too lazy to think. :)

#2 - Napolean Dynamite? (And I'm so sorry, but if that's what it is, I'm with your sister on this one...but my teen sons love it!)

Mrs. Who...guilty as charged! I like all kinds of movies old and new. I also like a lot of "quirky" movies and Napoleon Dynamite fits right in that category. By the way, I agree that it is kinda "stupid" but I still find myself cracking up over it. You don't even want to know how many times I have watched it!
